Our ISF Survey Program volunteers are on the move and staying one step ahead of the 5 priority species on this year's survey list. Through the end of August, we have received data back for close to 100 trail assignments spanning multiple parks in northern New Jersey and the lower Hudson Valley of NY. Our volunteers and survey interns have dedicated a staggering 800 hours to survey activities, led by survey extraordinaire MacKenzie Joyce, who just finished up his volunteer internship with the Trail Conference. MacKenzie logged in over 270 hours to surveying, data analyses and journaling throughout his time with us. Thank you MacKenzie for all the hard work in helping us refine our approach to beech leaf disease management in Westchester County. In addition to the exciting news regarding this year's iMapInvasives Mapping Challenge winners, Irene Sheldon and Judy Dacal (see photo and caption above), we also want to give a big shout out to all our volunteers who have completed at least 2 trail assignments thus far in 2022: Claudia Esker, Charlie Gadol, Lori Jo Jamieson, Christopher Jones, Irene Jong and Michael Mon, Thea Landesberg, Paul Nick and Karen Tenhuisen. Congratulations surveyors for going the extra mile (both literally and figuratively)! |
